It is here!!!!!
The Olympics are moments from happening and most people are anxiously awaiting the opening ceremonies. The event that only happens every four years gives every country the opportunity to wear their patriotic gear proud! With that, we want to give all of our fans different ideas on how you can show your American patriotism during the games with some vintage inspired outfits.
Just in time for the festivities, Gap has come out with a line of retro inspired tee-shirts. The tees come in both women and men’s sizes and feature our favorite cotton/poly blends that make then SUPER soft! Not only that, but Gap has chosen to feature different host countries for each tee. You can choose from France, Tokyo, London or the USA! It is a fun a laid back way to show some pride!
We also really liked these tees because they are in the “boyfriend” style, which means they fit flowy and loose. You can easily pair any one of the shirts with a pair of capris or high waisted shorts.
You can also take inspiration from Team USA designer Ralph Lauren and go for a classic Americana look.
Ralph Lauren is all about clean lines and prep-school inspiration, and while that may not be what you think of as vintage inspiration, there is a way to put your own twist on this. We suggest creating the following look that is influenced by Ralph Lauren’s designs.
Start with a pair of AH-MAZING wide leg pants.
Both pants are by Ralph Lauren. They give you the nautical sailor look in the blue or white. You can pair these pants with a solid colored top and you are good to go. You don’t have to add anything else to make the outfit a hit! Not only can you wear these pants to any Olympic party you may be headed to, but you can definitely wear them long after the games are done.
You can also find a pair of capris in white to create a Ralph Lauren inspired look. Capris can be a more casual look instead of the wide-leg trouser pants.
The next step to get a look inspired by Team USA is to find a stand out accent scarf!! We suggesting looking for a scarf with a print in the Red, White and Blue!
We wanted REAL vintage scarves for the look, so we got on Esty and did a search of “red, white, and blue scarves” and these are just a few of the favorites that we found. If you follow our link above, it will take you to the page we went to when we were looking for our accent scarves!
Remember, the key to picking an accessories is that you want to added some pazzaz to your out, don’t let your outfit become boring! Look for funky prints and geometric stylings. Because we are taking our cues from Ralph Lauren, things can be stiff. Use the scarf as an opportunity to give you look the retro edge. You can either tie the scarf around your neck, in your hair, or find one large enough to wrap around your waist as a belt.
If you feel like you need just ONE more thing to set apart your outfit then look for a hat or accent jewelry to be the icing on the cake.
We found this fun hat by Jessica Simpson on the Nordstrom website. If you plan on taking your festivities outdoors this hat may just be the choice for you!
To finish off this All-American look you need to have the right foot ware, and if we are talking Ralph Lauren then the only choice can be a pair of Sperry Topsiders!
These shoes scream American pride and East coast sailor! The Sperry Topsider would pair well with capris. We love these shoes because they are very comfortable and they can be worn with almost any outfit. We have seen some women pair the shoes with their dresses to give them that “I just got off a yacht” feeling.
We are so excited to start watching the games and cheering on our favorite athletes and Team USA! Let us know how you are celebrating the 2012 Olympics! Are you hosting a party? Wearing Red, White, and Blue to the office? Leave us a comment and share your Olympic Flare!
